James Joseph Weed, Jr passed away peacefully on August 12, 2025 at age 77 after a brave fight with the devastating disease, Glioblastoma. He was born in New Haven CT, the son of James and Delores Weed. Jim was a long time resident of West Hartford. He is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Martha, siblings Danny (Pam), Bruce (Brenda), Wanda Kramer, Kim Smith (Brent) and Margaret Ritchie (Terry), sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law Alice and Alan Leurck and George and Julie Kelland, and many nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews. Jim was known for his quick wit and great sense of humor. One of the most rewarding things he ever did was the many years he personified the true spirit of Santa Claus at G Fox in Hartford, CT. He also enjoyed monthly storytelling for young children with his wife (Mischievious the Cat) at Cromwell's Belden Library. Jim wrote his own animal stories and performed them using puppets. He and his wife made theme based crafts with the children. Jim and Martha enjoyed watching Jeopardy every night and completing daily word puzzles Jumble and Boggle. Friends and family are invited to celebrate Jim's life on Monday, August 18, open visitation at 10:30 AM, service at 11:00 AM at Molloy Funeral Home, 906 Farmington Avenue, West Hartford. Private burial following the service. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Jim's memory to PKD Foundation (pkdcure.org) PO Box 871847, Kansas City, MO 64131 or Neuro-oncology Support Fund at the University of Connecticut Foundation, Inc.
