James Brandon Whitlock, born on November 20, 1934, in Clarksville, Tennessee, to the late William and Flossie Whitlock, embarked on his eternal journey on December 23, 2024, at the age of 90. He was the eldest of five children and held a special place in the hearts of his family.
From an early age, James demonstrated a profound faith, accepting Christ under the guidance of Rev. J.W. Caldwell. He later became an active member of Nazarene Baptist Church, where he served on the usher board until health challenges required him to step back.
A proud graduate of Lincoln High School in 1952, James was known for his athletic ability, excelling in baseball and track. After graduation, his family relocated to Indianapolis due to his father’s job with International Harvester. There, James began his career with the same company until he answered the call of service, enlisting in the United States Air Force after he received his draft notice for the Army.
After his honorable discharge in St. Louis, he briefly worked for TWA before returning to Indianapolis, where he started a new chapter at United Parcel Service. It was here that he met and married his beloved wife, Josephine. James later returned to Evansville to care for his parents during their time of need.
In addition to his parents, James is predeceased by his twin brothers, Raymond and Riley Whitlock.
He is remembered lovingly by his daughter, Lisa Harrison; grandchildren, Stevon Brown and Ashley (Jamar) McKinney; great-grandchildren, Kaylee Brown, Stevon Brown Jr., and Marley McKinney; sisters, Viola Whitlock Jackson and Virginia Whitlock Coleman; longtime companion and caregiver Carmelita Stewart; and a cherished network of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
James Brandon Whitlock's legacy of love, faith, and service continues to live on in the hearts of all who knew him. He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered.
