James "Jim" Paul Williams, a beloved husband, father, and brother, peacefully departed this life on August 29, 2025, at the age of 81. Born on August 19, 1944, in Carrollton, Georgia, to the late Paul Williams and Opal Meigs Williams, Jim embraced life with a passion that was evident to all who knew him.
He was a 1962 graduate of Central High School, where he laid the foundation for a life characterized by hard work and determination. Jim dedicated thirty-six years of service to Southwire as a machinist and as a mechanical instructor. After his retirement, Jim began working as a carpenter, where he left a mark of craftsmanship and pride. He enjoyed hunting, growing vegetables in his garden, bailing hay, tending to his cattle, and embracing time spent with family and friends.
He adored his wife, Marcia Rooks Williams, and was a proud father to Amanda Hunnicutt and her husband, David. Jim is also survived by his loving sister, Carole Robertson and her husband, Al, along with numerous nieces and nephews.
A funeral service to celebrate Jim's life will take place on Saturday, September 6, 2025, at 4:00 PM in the Chapel of Martin & Hightower Funeral Home with Rev. Jimmy Bryan officiating. Interment will follow in Cross Plains Baptist Church Cemetery with Minister Jeff Beckham officiating the graveside service. The following gentlemen will serve as pallbearers: Brandon Rooks, Al Robertson III, Al Robertson IV, Reese Robertson, Sean Rogin, and Josh Hubbard. Prior to the service, friends and family are invited to gather for visitation at the funeral home on September 6, 2025, from 1:00 PM until 3:30 PM.
Flowers are welcome, but in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Jim's honor to:
