James Thomas "Tom" Wilson passed away on September 16th. Tom was born on October 9th, 1946 in Pineville, Bell County, Kentucky to Cleston and Velma Wilson. He had one sister "Ann" who predeceased him in 1994. Tom attended the University of Kentucky and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in political science and history in 1968. Tom was the first family member to attend and graduate from college. After college he moved to Louisville and accepted a job with Travelers Insurance Company in 1968. He worked primarily as an arson and fraud investigator but also was responsible for property and casualty claims such as fire, hurricanes, tornados, and earthquake damage. Tom retired from Travelers after 32 years of service.
Tom and Dr. Frank Alvey lived in the Highlands for decades and attended St. Martin's Catholic Church in Louisville. Frank preceded Tom in death in 2011 and they established a trust fund which will provide generous gifts to Bellarmine University, Little Sisters of the Poor, and various other charities.
There will be a "Celebration of Life" reunion at one of Tom's favorite places, Wildwood Country Club at 5000 Bardstown Road. Family and friends are invited to attend anytime between 1pm-4pm on Wednesday October 16th.
