James Howard Woods

January 7, 1942 – October 2, 2025

In the early morning of October 2, 2025, James "Pap" Howard Woods passed away peacefully surrounded by those who loved him the most. James was 83 years old.

Pap was born in Greenback, TN to Allen and Millie Ann Woods in January 1942. After graduating high school, he attended diesel mechanic school in Nashville and spent several years at Stowers Machinery before working at X-10 as heavy equipment supervisor, from where he retired.

Pap was well known in the community and was always full of words of wisdom. He never met a stranger. He enjoyed spending time with his grandkids and great grandson.

Pap is preceded in death by his parents, Allen and Millie Ann Woods, lovely wife, Nora Ann Woods, and sister, Fran Bright.

Pap is survived by his daughter, Sarah (Brian) Bevins, son, Allen (Amy) Woods, grandchildren, Zach Bevins, Jacob Woods, Nic (Annie) Bevins, Aly Bevins, and great grandson, Turner Parks. Along with his brother, George Woods, sisters, Deloris Hendrickson and Helen Claxton, brother-in-law, Lynn Bright, and several nieces and nephews.

As Pap would say, "Hold on to what you got, until you get what you want." Pap's faith was what he had, and what he wanted was Heaven!

Family and friends will gather at 1 p.m. Thursday, October 9th, in Loudon County Memorial Gardens for graveside services and interment. Rev. Johnny Walker will officiate. Friends may come by the funeral home to pay their respects.
