My first memory of James Yettman is reading his story in the Modesto Bee after he won the Colin Kaepernick recipe contest. He won with a sandwich that he created. In his story, he said that he was adopted from San Francisco General Hospital in September of 1935. He was given up for adoption by his mother, and had a twin brother whom the mother kept. My father, James T. Parquer, may have been that twin brother. He was born on September 2, 1935 at San Francisco General Hospital, along with his twin brother. His twin brother was adopted shortly after birth by a Jewish family, because his family was too poor to support both babies. The birth certificate for my father states that his birth was a single birth, and James Yettman was born in Nebraska a year later, according to records, but my father and James Yettman looked very similar in the photos. My father passed away on August 15, 2023 in Elk Grove, CA, at the age of 87. I have worked as an Agricultural Chemist In Modesto, CA since May of 1990, at IEH-JL Laboratory Services.

I have fond memories of Jimmy from when I was a young child. Our families would celebrate the 4th of July, pool parties and going to the snow. Jimmy was such a kind person. He had a nickname for me, not sure where it came from. My condolences to the family. Deanna (Gregg) Dover

Growing up as a kid always excited when I was going to my Uncle Jim's house. He always made get togethers the best. His infectious laugh and practical jokes made him always fun to be with. So many memories of Fourth of July, Tahoe vacations, family reunions and Christmases. He was the best! Someone I always looked up to, learned from and always strived to be like! He made the world a better place! Love you Uncle Jim!
