Jan Walters Hardy was born on July 16, 1939 in Lincoln, Kansas (population about 1,000). She graduated from the University of Kansas in 1961 as one of two female economics majors.

After a career in Executive Search in New York and Dallas, she became an active volunteer – serving as the volunteer president of READ, a Chattanooga not for profit serving adult illiterate individuals and the board of the Siskin Rehabilitation Hospital in Chattanooga. In Cincinnati, she was a volunteer preparer of income tax returns and a driver for individuals who could no longer drive.

Most recently, she has been an active philanthropist, participating in decisions to financially serve a variety of not for profits, primarily in the Cincinnati area.

She is survived by her husband Tom, two sons – Jay and Glenn, four grandchildren – Corinne, Henry, George and Alice, one great grandchild – Miles and her sister Jean Whitney.

Jan has had about sixty years of season tickets for symphony orchestra concerts in six cities. More recently, she has supported several events for classical guitar. She enjoyed several trips to the Wimbledon and French Open tennis tournaments.
