Jane graduated from William Henry Harrison High School in 1959. She furthered her education at Wilmington College and earned a bachelor's degree at Morehead State University. She later earned a master's degree in elementary education at Indiana University. Jane was a devoted teacher for many years. She was a member of OES 348 Batesville, Phi Beta Psi, and the Batesville United Methodist Church.
Jane had many interests including, attending church activities, painting, playing the piano, and reading. She loved gardening and was so good at tending to her plants, that most would say she had a green thumb. Going camping and traveling were two more of her favorite things, in addition to going square dancing with her husband, Bob. And of course, she enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.
She is survived by her husband, Robert "Bob" Fitzpatrick; sons: Ron (Lisa) Fitzpatrick, Richard (Barb) Fitzpatrick, Rob (Keri) Fitzpatrick; grandchildren: Leann, Tanner, Kylee, Carly, Owen and Parker Fitzpatrick; and several great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
Jane was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Vernon Kern; and sister, Nancy Kern.
Visitation for family and friends will be held on Thursday, November 21, 2024 from 3:00 pm to 6:00 pm. A funeral service will follow at 6:00 pm with Rev. Chris Renick officiating all at Meyers Funeral Home. Memorial contributions can be made to the Alzheimer's Association or Batesville United Methodist Church Outreach by bringing to the services or mailing to Meyers Funeral Home, PO Box 202, Batesville, IN 47006.
