Jane Ann Nicotra, a model of love and selflessness, passed away peacefully on May 27, 2025, at her residence in Glenolden, PA. Born on October 3, 1935, in Scranton, Pennsylvania, to the late Idwal Davis and Mildred Kelly, Jane Ann's life was a testament to the virtues of kindness and dedication to family.
Known affectionately as Jane Ann, she was the beloved wife of the late Joseph J. Nicotra, and together they shared a life full of love and mutual respect. Jane Ann's legacy continues through her devoted children: Deborah J. Gentile-Miklosey (Edward), Joseph J. Nicotra, Jr., and Janemarie Gill (Brian). She was the cherished grandmother of Justin Gentile (Michelle), Jared Gentile (Julia), Andrew Gill, Patrick Gill, and the late Jonathan Gentile (Kathy Rose). She was given immense joy as a great-grandmother to Giancarlo Gentile.
Jane Ann was a dear sister to Patience Selverian, Salvatore Davis, Anthony Davis, Gina Marie Gifford, and the late Earnest Davis, Amelia Larson, Jack Davis, and Margherita Picciotti. Through good times and bad, Jane Ann took on the responsibility of looking out for her younger siblings and providing loving care when needed. She was also the aunt of many wonderful nieces and nephews.
During her life, Jane Ann worked at the Clam Tavern, where she prepared many wonderful meals including crab imperial. Additionally, her love for teaching children and the Catholic faith led her to serve as a CCD teacher to children at St. George Parish of Glenolden, Pa.
Jane Ann's interests were a reflection of her nurturing spirit. An exceptional cook, she found joy in the simple pleasure of preparing meals for her family and friends. Music was a constant companion in her life, often accompanying her while she indulged in her passion for singing. Her belief in the importance of healthy living was evident in her dedication to healthy eating and regular exercise.
Jane Ann's life was a living example of love in action. She was the epitome of a selfless individual, always putting the needs of others before her own. Her kindness was a blanket that comforted all who were fortunate enough to know her. She approached every day with a loving heart, and her presence was a source of strength and inspiration to her family and all who knew her.
Jane Ann's family takes solace in the knowledge that her journey was full of purpose and that she has now been reunited with her beloved husband, Joseph, her dear grandson, Jonathan, and her cherished siblings Earnest, Amelia, Jack, and Margherita. Her memory will be cherished and honored, and her teachings of love and kindness will continue to guide us.
Relatives and friends are invited to her viewing Monday, June 2nd, from 10:30am-11:30am in the Church of St. George, 11 Lamont Ave. Glenolden, Pa 19036. followed by her Funeral Mass at 11:30am. Burial at St. Peter & Paul Cemetery.
