Jane L. Schenkoski, age 77 of Gillett, passed away peacefully at home on Monday, July 28, 2025 surrounded by family. Jane was born on November 23, 1947 in Oconto Falls to the late Olaf and Louise (Wendt) Pederson. She graduated from Bonduel High School in 1965. After high school, Jane worked at Pulaski Shoe Factory for several years. She later worked at two bakeries which she loved and as a waitress at Club 32 for 21.5 years. Jane was also a bookkeeper at Zippel Construction until she retired. On September 11, 1982 she married Allen Schenkoski. She was a member of St. John Riverside Lutheran Church in Gillett. Jane loved baking, canning, and helping out at church wherever was needed until her illness took over.
Jane is survived by her husband, Allen; daughter, Stachia (Ryan) Desterheft; granddaughter, Payton Desterheft, who was her pride and joy; brother, Lowell (Deanna) Pederson; brothers-in-law, Gary (Laura) Schenkoski and Pete (Chris) Schenkoski. She is further survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, JoAnn (John) Liesner and Darlene Berg; nephew, David Berg; father and mother-in-law, Bennie and Florence Schenkoski; brother-in-law, Gaylord Schenkoski.
Visitation will be held on Friday, August 1, 2025 at St. John Riverside Lutheran Church from 9 am until the funeral service at 11 am with Rev. Mark Palmer officiating. Gruetzmacher Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements. Online condolences can be expressed at www.gruetzmacherfuneralhome.com.
The family would like to thank the staffs of Unity Hospice and Prevea Clinic, especially Erin Bancroft APNP, for the care and compassion offered to Jane and her family during their time of need. Further thanks to the staff of Mayo Clinic for their expertise and understanding during a difficult time.
