Janet Adams, 93, passed away November 15, 2025, at Baptist Hospital East. She was born on August 6, 1932, to the late George B. and Christine (Tanner) Roberts, in Sanders, Kentucky. She is survived by her grandchildren, Mary Kathryn and Ben Garvey and many friends and family.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lester Adams, her parents, and a sister, Annette (Roberts) Petri.
Janet retired from Baptist Hospital East where she worked in the business office for most of her career. She loved "her girls" at the office and thinking of special things to do for them.
Janet spent 74 years married to Lester and was lost after his recent passing. "Lester and Janet" has been common terminology for all of us. It was hard to say one without the other. While we all knew Lester doted on Janet, behind the scenes, she equally cared for him.
Janet loved her church family. She attended as long as she was able and then some. She was fortunate to have many life-long friends at Lakewood. She always took a dish, sent a gift and prayed for any concern she was aware of in her church. She loved the holidays and baking for friends. We will all miss the jars of homemade chex mix this Christmas.
Janet truly loved the good old days. She successfully lived without a computer or smart phone. She had a love for antiques and collected for many years. She loved to entertain her family and share traditions. There was no need to replace anything unless it was broken. She still loved to watch Lawrence Welk reruns on Saturday nights.
She was so proud to be "Granny" to Mary Kathryn and Ben. She attended every choir concert, sporting event, and graduation. She always brightened when they were around.
She was an avid fan of U of L Basketball and season ticket holder as long as she was able.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, November 19, 2025, 1:00 p.m. at Lakewood Baptist Church, 13803 Shelbyville Road, with entombment at Resthaven Memorial Park. Visitation will be Wednesday from 11:00 to 1:00 p.m. at the Church. Ratterman Brothers Funeral Home, 12900 Shelbyville Road, is in charge of arrangements. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Lakewood Baptist Church.
