Mrs. Janet Smith Cooper
entered eternal rest on Saturday, January 13, 2024 at Sentara Virginia Beach Hospital in Virginia Beach, Virginia. She was the daughter of the late Lee Smith, Jr and the late Annie Mary Jenkins and the wife of the late Hezekiah Cooper. In addition to her parents and husband, she was also predeceased by sisters,Helen L. Spencer and Cynthia Flood.
Celebration of Life Services will be Thursday, January 25, 2024, 1:00 p.m. at Cornerstone Missionary Baptist Church, Elizabeth City, North Carolina. Interment will be in the West Lawn Cemetery, Elizabeth City, North Carolina. A viewing/visitation will be 1 hour prior to the service.
Janet leaves to cherish her loving memory two sons, Dr. Hector W. Cooper (Dr. Kathy Cousins-Cooper) of Whitsett, North Carolina and Dr. Javon S. Cooper (Felicia F. Cooper) of Greensboro, North Carolina; one granddaughter, Lauryn Cooper of Greensboro, North Carolina; two grandsons, Cameron Cooper of Whitsett, North Carolina and Kyle Cooper of Whitsett, North Carolina; three sisters, Diane Smith of Virginia Beach, Virginia, Robin S. Stephenson (Robert Stephenson) of Murfreesboro, North Carolina, Kim S. Murphy of Murfreesboro, North Carolina; two brothers Robert L. Smith (Doris Smith) of Waldorf, Maryland and Keith H. Manley (Mary G. Manley) of Brown Summit, North Carolina; one sister-in-law, Wilhelma Cooper and a host of family and friends.
