Janet E. Drew
April 23, 1939 - July 10, 2025
Janet E. Drew, a beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on July 10, 2025, in Newport, Michigan, at the age of 86. Born on April 23, 1939, in Lake City, Michigan, Janet lived a life filled with love, dedication, and joy.
A graduate of Monroe High School, class of 1957, Janet devoted many years to her profession as a beautician, where she touched the lives of many with her grace and skill. Beyond her professional career, Janet held a passion for gardening and was particularly known for her talent in canning her homegrown tomatoes. She had an eye for discovery, enjoying shopping and thrifting, always on the lookout for unique finds. Above all, her greatest joy came from spending time with her cherished grandchildren, who were the light of her life.
Janet faced the challenges of declining health over the past two years with courage and grace. She is preceded in death by her loving husband, Thomas J. Drew, who passed on December 19, 2015; her parents, Norman and Evelyn (Deuel) Hall; her daughter, Cathy Hawkins; seven siblings: Norman, Catherine, Alice, Carolyn, Diana, Robert, and Patsy; and her grandchild, Chasity Strickland.
She is survived by her devoted children: Cyndy (Jerry) Stid of Lake City, Michigan, Ruthann Strickland of Newport, Alice Fortner of Flat Rock, Thomas J. Drew Jr. of Temperance, and Joseph (Celina) Drew of Monroe. Janet leaves behind a legacy that includes fifteen grandchildren, twenty-one great-grandchildren, four great-great-grandchildren, all of whom will carry her memory and love forward; and her beloved dog, Cesar.
Family and friends are invited to visit on Tuesday, July 15, 2025, from 2:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Rupp Funeral Home, located at 2345 S. Custer Road, Monroe, MI 48161. A celebration of Janet's life will be held on Wednesday, July 16, 2025, at 11:00 a.m., also at Rupp Funeral Home, with Rev. Larry Detruf officiating. Interment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park in LaSalle.
