Janet N. Hanson

Janet N. Hanson (nee Pence), 61, lifelong resident of Elyria, passed away after a short illness on Monday, December 8, 2025. Janet was born on February 24, 1964, in Elyria to James and Laura (nee Hall) Pence.

Janet graduated from Elyria High School, class of 1982. She then furthered her education at Bryant and Stratton College. She worked as a paralegal for over 40 years, most recently at Weston Hurd LLC in Cleveland.

She was a faithful member of the Avon United Methodist Church, was active in their Bible Study, and volunteered her services for her church.

Janet loved reading and gardening, but especially spending precious time with her grandchildren.

Surviving members of Janet's family include her husband of 40 years Geoff Hanson; daughters Nicole C. (Jared) Hubicsak of Tallmadge, OH and Jessica D. (Tyler) Perkins of Amherst, OH; grandchildren Lydia, Elliot, Abigail, Annie and Sophie; and four siblings.

Preceded in death by her parents James and Laura (nee Hall) Pence, one brother and one sister.

Memorial Visitation will be held on Sunday, December 14, 2025, from 2-4pm, with a Celebration of Life to follow at 4pm at the Busch Funeral Home 114 Second St., Elyria.
