Obituary of Janet H. Ouderkirk
Mrs. Janet H. Ouderkirk, 89, of Groff Road, Palatine Bridge, NY, passed away on Monday, October 14, 2024.
Janet was born in Schenectady, NY, on April 17, 1935, the daughter of Charles and Anna Hall Hoyt, and lived in Argusiville, Schoharie Co., and graduated from Sharon Springs Central School in 1953. On June 18, 1954, she married Clarence J. Ouderkirk, Jr.
She worked for Lifesavers/Beech-Nut from 1954 until its closing in 1989.
Janet enjoyed traveling, square dancing with the Kurley Q's on Sundays at Lombardo's with her dancing friends, and, in her early years, belonging to the Rolling Mohawks Motorcycle Club.
She was predeceased by her husband, her mother, her father, her stepmother, Ada Hoyt, her sister, Ella Mae Nestle, and her stepsister, Joyce Cassidy.
Survivors include her son, Joseph (Barbara) Ouderkirk; granddaughter, Christa (Tim) Fonda; grandson, Hans (Roxy) Ouderkirk; great-granddaughter Harper; great-grandsons, Olin and Rylee; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday, October 23, 2024, at Trinity Lutheran Church(Stone Arabia), 5430 State Route 10, Palatine Bridge, NY 13428, at 10:00 AM. Burial will take place at Freysbush Cemetery following the service.
Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Houghtaling and Hanley Funeral Home, 20 Otsego Street, Canajoharie, NY 13317.
Memorial Contributions in memory of Janet may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church or Stone Arabia Preservation Society.
