Janet D. Quiggins, 87, of Louisville, Kentucky, passed away peacefully on Friday, October 10, 2025, surrounded by love and the comfort of her family.
Born on January 20, 1938, in Louisville to George and Ruth Huber, Janet was a lifelong resident of the city she called home. She was a devoted wife, a selfless mother, a proud grandmother, and a cherished friend to many.
Janet dedicated much of her life to public service, working for many years with the Kentucky State Department of Probation and Parole. Known for her steady dedication and quiet strength, she was the kind of person who would put in a full day at work and then come home to care for her family without complaint or hesitation. She gave her all, always putting others first.
Janet had a gentle spirit and a forgiving heart—never one to hold a grudge. Though she often kept to herself, those who knew her well knew her to be thoughtful, dependable, and full of quiet wisdom. She found joy in the simple things, like bowling with her beloved Tom, and treasured the moments spent with her family.
A great mom and a steady presence, Janet leaves behind a legacy of love, resilience, and kindness. She will be deeply missed by all who had the honor of knowing her.
Janet is preceded in death by her loving husband of 19 years, Thomas Quiggins; parents, George Edward and Ruth Huber; children, Larry Marcell, Gail Schultz, and Dennis Marcell.
Left to cherish her memory, Janet is survived by her children, Mary Singleton, Garry Marcell (Christina), Sandy Conatser, and Kevin Marcell; 14 grandchildren; a handful of great-grandchildren; and a host of close friends.
A funeral service for Mrs. Janet Quiggins will be held at 2 PM on Monday, October 20, 2025, at Louisville Memorial Gardens West Funeral Home, 4400 Dixie Highway, Louisville, Kentucky. Visitation will be held from 11 AM to 2 PM at the funeral home, prior to the service. Burial at Louisville Memorial Gardens West will follow the service.
