Janet Marlene Ricer, 86 of Zephyrhills, FL, formerly of Spencer and Ashland, Ohio, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, Aug. 6, 2024 in Zephyrhills.
She was born Oct. 30, 1937 in Spencer, Ohio to the late Ralph and Clara (Sprague) Leiby.
Janet grew up in Spencer where she graduated from Spencer High School in 1955.
She had worked for Garber Printing in Ashland, and in 1977 she and her husband Clarence moved to Hollywood, FL where they owned and operated the Elms Hotel. They would later move to Zephyrhills in 1984.
Janet was always very involved with her family and their activities, and will be greatly missed.
She is survived by are her daughters, Kim Trawick of Orlando, Darla Wallace of Zephyrhills, and Diana (Bill) Ensign of Spencer; step-daughters, Susan Ricer of Mansfield and Betty James of Ashland;
12 grandchildren and a number of great-grandchildren; and her sister, Jeanne (Gordy) Smith of Spencer.
She was preceded in death by her husband Clarence in 2019 and her brother, Ralph Dean Leiby.
Friends may call Thursday, Aug. 15, from 5:00 – 7:00 PM at Parker Funeral Home, 202 E. Main St., Spencer, OH, where funeral services for Janet will be held Friday, Aug. 16, at 11:00 AM.
Pastor Brian Egelston will officiate and burial will follow at Spencer Cemetery.
The family suggests, if desired, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or online at www.stjude.org
