Just finding out this news, my Christmas card just came back to me today. Janet and I lived together in Arlington in the late 70s and early 80s. We reconnected and visited my cousin Kathy's horse farm in Mattapoisett together then Kathy and I visited Janet in Woburn. My twins were studying in Europe, and I invited Jan to visit with me, but she had recently started a new job and could not get the time off. We later planned a trip to the European Christmas Market places but just as we were making the reservation she became ill and needed the transplant, so she was unable to go abroad. I have been concerned because I did not get a Christmas card/letter this year but hoped it was just that she decided to not send cards anymore. My heart sank when I brought in my mail today. She is missed.

So nice to read many beautiful stories of Janet.
I did not know her as an educator to me, but I knew of her career and accomplishments. She was my brother Jim´s friend (Jim Roche). And then she became a family friend. We knew her as Jan. She would visit with our mother. She came to my home on many occasions. Always so kind and a fun person to be around. She mixed well with all the Roche´s, coming from a big family herself, she fit right in! My condolences to all the family. She will be missed. May she rest in peace.

I have come to consider it an honor and no small measure of terror and challenge to sit in any class mentored by Janet. She held everyone to the highest standards of medical acumen and performance. There are few instructors that can infuse their students with the ability to think for themselves in a medical situation given the many variable parameters we encounter as field professionals.
Janet, Jerry, Spector, Dave Raine etc... Made Northeastern University's Paramedic Program exactly what it was in the day... The Best!
May you be at peace Janet, if that's possible for someone as ferocious as you, you will be missed!

Very few people can look back at the end of their life and know they have had a hand in saving the lives of so many others. A truly great teacher whose legacy will continue to be passed on by her many students.

Janet was the consummate professional, assuring the highest levels of competency. Her work ensures graduates were the most well trained of any in the care of prehospital emergency care patients. U was also fortunate to see her as she would go out of Port Everglades on cruises and we would catch up when I was chief of Broward County. I was truly blessed to know here , may she rest in eternal peace.

Janet was truly an amazing and incredibly EMS instructor. Whenever I told anyone that I graduated from Northeastern University paramedics program back in 1985, we would always talk about how brilliant and great of an instructor Janet was, ( tough but awesome) Adam was right, many lives were save because of all the paramedic she had trained. Thoughts and prayers.

I first met Janet in 1980 when she took my EMT course at Northeastern. A year later, we changed places, and I became her student. She was a remarkable lady, an incredible educator and all of us in EMS were made better by her tutelage. She exhibited and expected the best in patient care, and like many others, so appreciate all she did. I fondly remember the times we spent in Dublin, and the years sharing AHA training responsibilities...and enduring all those Training Subcommittee meetings. A good friend and so lucky to have shared time with her.

As many will say, Janet was the most dedicated and effective educator we will ever know. She made sure everyone knew how important her priorities were and we are all so much better for it. A true blessing for many of us and the many lives she changed because of her unwavering devotion to quality. I have continued to rave about her in recent years because she deserved the accolades she got. Thank You.

She was a demanding teacher. Demands I didn't appreciate until start working as a paramedic. She trained the best medics, giving them a solid foundation to start his or her career. Wasn't too many days I didn't think of her. Thank you for your teaching gifts and the special gift you gave me on the field rotation. Safe travels to the other side

She was a force to be reckoned with and one of the best educators that ever existed. We were honored to have come to our 25th NU Paramedic gathering and be able to thank her again in person. She left a mark on this world that will never fade.
