William A. Marchand ObituaryMARCHAND, William A., formerly of Arlington and Quincy, MA, passed away peacefully on July 12, 2025, in Winston-Salem, NC. He was born in Cambridge, MA, in 1954 to the late Raymond and Tersena Marchand (Hingley).
Bill was the beloved husband of 39 years to Elizabeth Marchand; loving father of William, Raymond, Katherine, and Sarah Marchand; and cherished grandfather of Carley and Cameron Marchand. He was the dear brother of Raymond Marchand Jr., and Barbara O'Brien, and is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, extended family, and close friends.
Bill grew up in Arlington and graduated from Arlington High School in 1972. He went on to earn his degree from Salem State College in 1978. Over the years, he managed several movie theaters and restaurants in the Boston area with dedication and care, earning the respect and loyalty of those he worked with. He was a devoted husband and father who always put his family first.
Known for his outgoing nature, warm smile, and love of conversation, Bill had a passion for politics and was a lifelong fan of Boston sports. He proudly served as a statistician for Morrisette Legion Baseball in Quincy and later became an expert genealogist-researching not only his own family's history, but also helping others uncover theirs.
Stubborn and fiercely determined, Bill faced a long battle with health issues with remarkable courage and resilience. Through it all, his love for family, his enduring optimism, and the joy he brought to those around him never wavered.
Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend a visitation at the Keefe Funeral Home, 5 Chestnut Street, Arlington, on Friday, July 25, 2025, from 9:30 to 11:00 AM. A Funeral Mass will follow at 11:30 AM at St. Agnes Church, 30 Medford Street, Arlington. Burial will follow at Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Arlington. In lieu of flowers, donations in Bill's memory may be made to Breakthrough T1D (formerly JDRF).
