Janet M. Weatherly, age 78, of
Jefferson City, Mo., went to meet her heavenly father on Thursday, June 26, 2026, after a long courageous battle with cancer.
A woman whose heart was as full as the life she lived-simple, joyful, and rooted deeply in love for her family and the little things that made each day special.
She met the love of her life, Randy Weatherly, on a blind date arranged by a mutual friend. That chance meeting blossomed into a beautiful partnership that began on September 24, 1977, in Holts Summit, Missouri. Together, they shared decades of unwavering love and raised her son, Mike, as a united and devoted family.
Janet dedicated over 30 years of service as a data entry clerk for the Department of Corrections. Her commitment and strong work ethic were hallmarks of her quiet strength. But beyond her career, Janet's true passions came to life in her creativity and craftsmanship.
An artist at heart, Janet found peace and purpose in her ceramics. With over 2,000 molds and two kilns, her home was filled with the spirit of handmade beauty. She also brought warmth and joy through her embroidery, gifting personalized quilts to those she loved. Her talent extended to porcelain doll-making, and her hands were rarely still-always creating, always giving.
Janet loved the outdoors, especially the peaceful moments spent camping and fishing for crappie and catfish at the lake with Randy. She was proud of her blue and white boat, a treasure she discovered at a boat show-just one of many she enjoyed attending with a gleam in her eye. Her cat, Montey, was her beloved companion, known to walk on a leash and play fetch, adding a touch of fun and affection to her daily life.
Family was Janet's greatest joy. She treasured time spent with her son, her grandson, and her great-grandson. Every visit, every laugh, every shared memory meant the world to her. She was endlessly caring, always supportive, and had a unique way of making every moment feel important and full of love.
Janet also enjoyed traveling, taking in the beauty of Tennessee, Utah, and Colorado along the way. Yet, despite her many interests, she never sought extravagance-she preferred the simpler side of life, where love, laughter, and handmade moments were more than enough.
Janet love for life, her creative spirit, and her gentle presence will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her. Though her hands may be at rest, the warmth of what she created-both in craft and in the hearts of her family-will live on forever.
Survivors include her loving husband of the home, Randy; one son, Mike Signaigo (Gail Simms); one grandson, Shawn Signaigo; one great grandson, Landon Signaigo, all of Columbia, Mo.; three sisters, Rosemary Blanner of St. Louis, Mo., Betty Thoenen of Bonnots Mill, Mo., and Patti Brendel (Bill) of Greenville, Mo.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and one brother, Steve Signaigo of Kansas City, Mo.
A celebration of life for Janet will be held at a later date.
Funeral arrangements are under the care of Freeman Mortuary, 915 Madison St,
