Janet Ellen Westland, 78, of Bonney Lake, Washington, passed away peacefully on July 31, 2025, after bravely facing complications from cancer. Born on August 16, 1947, in Norfolk, Nebraska, Janet was the beloved daughter of Robert and Wilma Zwickey and cherished sister to Earl Zwickey.

Janet met her husband, John A. Westland, during their freshman year of college at Carnegie Institute of Technology, and their enduring love story spanned 58 years of marriage. Together, they raised two sons, John R. and Michael E. Westland, and built a life filled with adventure, love, and learning.

A lifelong learner, Janet earned her Master's in Counseling and Educational Psychology from New Mexico State University. She was known for her quiet, thoughtful nature, and her dedication to helping others. Janet loved to travel, experiencing the world through many cruises and explorations of diverse cultures. She also found great joy in ballroom dancing, achieving Silver level with Arthur Murray Studios.

Janet was an active member of the Order of Eastern Star, serving as Worthy Matron of Juanita Chapter #187 and holding several offices with distinction.

A memorial service will be held at Powers Funeral Home in Puyallup, WA, on September 30 at 2:00 p.m., with a reception to follow. Janet will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
