Janet L. Yager, widow of Robert D. Yager, mother to James, Patricia and Steven, and grandmother to Zach and Alex, passed away peacefully on March 1st, 2025. She was 90 years old.
Jan, as she was affectionately known by her friends, was loved for her easy manner and quick wit. She was an avid gardener and kept a beautiful yard and flower beds wherever she lived. She also loved animals, including several rescued American Eskimo dogs. Professionally, she was a Personal Banker for Seafirst Bank and then Bank of America – working in the main BofA branch in downtown San Francisco for several years and other branches throughout California and Washington.
Jan attended College of the Pacific and started her life with husband, Bob, in Sacramento, California where he was a salesman and she worked for United Airlines. After their three children were born, the family moved to Vallejo, CA and later to homes in Princeton NJ, the San Francisco Bay Area, Orange County CA, Mercer Island and Kirkland WA, and Athens GA. She was living in Redmond, Washington near her son Steven at the time of her death.
A wonderful mother, she encouraged all her children to follow their life's passions. James is an award-winning documentary filmmaker, Patricia is an oceanographer and professor at the University of Georgia, and Steven is a successful home contractor in the Seattle area. She was also a loving mother-in-law to David Floyd (James's husband), Steven Holland (Patricia's husband) and Kim Reed (Steven's wife).
Jan is survived by her brother Garth Otis in Scottsdale AZ.
Jan will be deeply missed by her family and friends. The family will be planning a private memorial service for both their parents to be held in the Pacific Northwest per their wishes later this spring.
In lieu of flowers the family asks if you would please donate to her favorite charity: the American Diabetes Association.
