It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beautiful mother, grandmother and cherished friend Janice Marie Butrick.
Jan was born December 12,1939 in Bellingham Wa. to Darrel S Helgesen and Violet J. (Weatherby) Helgesen. Jan unexpectedly passed on June 7, 2025 at the age of 85.
Janice married Angie R. Butrick in 1958. In 1959 Jan and Angie moved to King County where they resided until 2007 and moved to Raymond, WA.
Janice was talented and very creative. She loved crafting, drawing and painting. She created beautiful flower gardens bursting with color. She loved the Arts, theater, plays, and music fed her soul.
Jan had a funny and quirky sense of humor. When shopping, she would find that one silly item and pose for the camera. Jan loved ice cream, particularly, real licorice and berry pies. Her loved ones teased that when she passed, her headstone would read "one scoop too many", and so it does.
During her life she got to experience France and Japan in relation to Angie's work as a Machine Tools Representative. She also visited several states. She loved to travel and meet new people. In her later years, Jan and Angie would hook up the 5th wheel and travel to their favorite spots in Washington.
Jan was kindhearted and loved to help people. Locally she volunteered at the food bank and put her special touch on the thrift store.
Over the years, Jan worked as a machinist building airplane parts and a meat packer at Hormel.
Jan was an active member at Trinity Baptist Church in Kent, Wa. Jan and Angie were lifelong NRA members where Jan volunteered her time and was instrumental in bringing in donations for the Baptist Banquets. Jan received an award for her accomplishments.
Jan and Angie were members of the Classical Glass Corvette Club in Tacoma, WA.
Janice loved having her family around her. She enjoyed sharing and teaching her grandchildren and great grandchildren her crafting and gardening skills.
Jan and Angie celebrated their 67th wedding anniversary June 6, 2025.
Janice is survived by her husband: Angie Butrick and daughters; Carrie McDaneld and Shelly Winroth. Grandson: Joshua McCoy. Granddaughters: Felicia Williams, Taylor Kueck and Haley Bowling and 15 Great-grandchildren. Janice was preceded in death by her son: Darren Butrick.
There will be a visitation for family and friends at Bayview funeral home in Raymond, WA. from 10-12pm Saturday, June 21, 2025.
Graveside service will be held for family and friends at Menlo Cemetery at 1pm, Saturday, June 21, 2025.
An Ice Cream and Pie social will follow the service.
