Jan attended and graduated from Gray High School. She was married to Tom Clodfelter for 54 years. Jan worked in the office of Bocock Stroud for 30 years, where she served as a bookkeeper. She loved her family, and her home was often considered the gathering place for the extended family. Jan enjoyed making crafts and decorating for the holidays, but especially for Christmas.
Jan was a member of Trinity Moravian Church for many years. She often considered the members of the church, her family. She served the church in many ways. Jan and her close friend, Mary Ruth Shelton, taught the Kindergarten Sunday School class for over 30 years. Jan served many terms on the Board of Elders as well as the Provincial Board of Elders. Her favorite service for the Moravian Church was organizing the decorating of the older graves in God’s Acre for the Easter Sunrise service.
In addition to her parents, Jan was preceded in passing by her husband, Tom Clodfelter and her grandson, James Clodfelter. Left to cherish her memory is her son, John Clodfelter (Kathy) of Swansboro; a daughter, Marty Fort (Hubert) of Raleigh; four grandchildren, Tony Caddell (Amy) of Winston-Salem, Christina Clodfelter of Winston-Salem, Harrison Fort (Tiffany) of Wake Forest, and Kekka Klingerman (Nate) of Raleigh; six great-grandchildren; a host of nieces and nephews; and several great nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held at 2:00pm on Saturday, March 15, 2025, at God’s Acre with Rev. John Jackman officiating. There will be a Celebration of Life held at 3:00pm at Trinity Moravian Church following the service. The family will receive friends after the Celebration of Life service at the church.
