Bollinger Funeral Goods & Services - BrunswickStrongsville, Ohio – Janice E. Horton, 83, of Port Huron, Michigan went home to be with the Lord on October 18, 2025.
She was born on March 10, 1942, to the late Marvin and Freida Dause in Racine, Wisconsin. As an infant, she moved to Detroit, Michigan with her family. She spent her childhood and early adult life in the Detroit area until moving to Port Huron, Michigan in 1976.
She worked for the Port Huron School District as a teacher’s aide, Mary Maxim as a keypunch operator and Jeff Poosch Financial Services as the office administrator. She retired from that role.
She was a long-time member of Port Huron First Church of the Nazarene, where she served as Sunday School superintendent, teacher and Children’s Ministry director.
Jan enjoyed spending time with family and friends, swimming laps in the pool, reading books on the beach, and collecting lighthouses. Her grandchildren were her joy.
She was married to the late Gordon D. Horton for 58 years. She is survived by her children; David (Sandy) Horton, Debbie (Carl) Woods, and Dianna (Tyler) Coffman; 8 grandchildren; Gideon and Mark Horton, Joshua (Kaitlin) Woods, Kayla (Alex) Steinmetz, Leah (Dominic) Thomas, Austin (Gianna), Devynn and Mylee Coffman, and 3 great grandchildren; Lucas Woods, MacKenzie Coffman and Michael Steinmetz. She is also survived by her three siblings: Charles Dause, Jeri Dause, and Julie Slater.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, November 15, 2025, at the Port Huron First Church of the Nazarene, 1923 Garfield Street, Port Huron, Michigan. Her grandson, the Reverend Joshua W. Woods, will officiate.
Memorials and contributions may be made to the Fort Gratiot Lighthouse. Online donations can be made by clicking here.
