Janice Devine Miller, a beacon of warmth and the heart of her family, passed away peacefully on October 26, 2025, at her home in Josephine, Texas. Born on January 2, 1955, in Liberty County, Texas, Janice's life was a testament to her unwavering strength, compassion, and the joy she brought to those around her.
Janice was the cherished wife of Jerry Miller, with whom she shared a life full of love and devotion. She was a loving mother to her daughters, Keri Godfrey and husband Mike, Mandie Vieth and husband Scott, Melisa Bradley-Shelton and husband Matt, and Alisa Hamilton. She was also a stepmother to Keith Bradley and wife Pat, Jason Hamilton and wife Sheena, and Jason Miller. Her role as a grandmother was one she treasured deeply, bestowing love and wisdom upon her 13 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. She was a sister to Deena Clack and Shereld Wise, leaving behind a legacy of family unity and cherished memories.
Janice was preceded in passing by her mother, Pearl L. White, her father, James L. Devine Jr., and her brother, Kaylon Bederka. Her spirit, however, will continue to be felt through the numerous lives she touched.
Throughout her life, Janice was known for her exceptional chocolate pie, a treat that brought together family and friends and won her the affectionate title of the best chocolate pie maker. Her vocation as a hospice caregiver allowed her to extend her natural nurturing and empathy to those in their final moments, making her one of the most loved caregivers in the community. A breast cancer survivor, Janice embodied resilience and hope, inspiring all who knew her.
Janice's Christian faith was a cornerstone of her existence, providing her with strength and guiding her through life's challenges. Her interests were a reflection of her love for the simple joys in life. Sewing, gardening, and decorating her home were not just hobbies, but expressions of her creativity and care. She found immense joy in baking treats and pies, and her happiest moments were those spent surrounded by her family and grandkids, sharing in the laughter and love that she so generously provided.
Janice's life was a beautiful tapestry woven with threads of dedication, love, and indomitable spirit. Her memory will be cherished and kept alive through the stories and traditions she passed down to her beloved family. Janice Devine Miller's legacy is one of love, and it is this love that will continue to shine brightly in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know her. Her journey on earth has concluded, but the impact of her life will resonate for generations to come.
A visitation will be held at Cross Church, 100 N First St, Wylie, TX 75098 on Friday, November 7, 2025 from 3:00 – 5:00 PM.
Dinner will follow the visitation at Ballard St Café, 112 N Ballard Ave, Wylie, TX 75098.
A graveside service will be held at the Dallas-Forth Worth National Cemetery, 2000 Mountain Creek Pkwy,
Dallas, TX 75211 on Wednesday, November 12, 2025 at 1:00 PM.
