Janice Mae Ratliff Day, born on April 17, 1942, in Xenia, Ohio, passed from this world on June 28, 2025, at Pioneer Trace Healthcare and Rehabilitation in Flemingsburg, Kentucky. Janice’s life was a beautiful tapestry woven with artistry, melody, and profound love, leaving an indelible mark on all whose lives she touched.
Janice was an artist at heart. Her love for art manifested in many forms: she found joy in painting, often expressing her vibrant spirit through her creations. She had a beautiful voice that echoed happiness as she sang and played her guitar, often sharing those sweet moments with family and friends who gathered to enjoy the music she provided. Her affection for cats brought her comfort and companionship, reminiscent of her nurturing spirit and gentle demeanor.
In Janice's family, her influence was felt profoundly. She is survived by her beloved son, Danny Barbee of Flemingsburg. Janice leaves behind her two brothers, Roy Ratliff of Ewing, Kentucky, and Elgin Ratliff (Pete) of Louisville, Kentucky. Laughter and love continue with her eleven cherished grandchildren and several great-grandchildren, who will carry forward her joyful essence. Janice shared a close bond with numerous nieces, nephews, and countless other relatives and friends, each having their unique memory of her kindness and strength.
Janice was preceded in death by her significant other, Fred Hollon, who held a special place in her heart. She also mourned the loss of her son, Paul Barbee, and daughter, Debbie Eads, both of whom she loved deeply. Their memories were always carried forth in her stories and recollections.
A Visitation in honor of Janice will take place on July 2, 2025, from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at Michael R. Gray Funeral Home, located at 405 S Main Cross St, Flemingsburg, Kentucky. Following this, a Funeral Service will be held at the same location, commencing at 1:00 PM. with Pastor Shawn Meade officiating.
All arrangements for Janice Mae Ratliff Day and family are under the care and direction of the Michael R. Gray Funeral Home in Flemingsburg.
