Obituary published on Legacy.com by Eaton Funeral Home & Cremation Center - Main Chapel on Jul. 19, 2025.
Janice Lee Schoenhoff, 84, of Sullivan, MO, passed away Tuesday, July 15, 2025, at Mercy Hospital South in St. Louis, MO. Born on August 24, 1940, in St. Louis, MO, to Ralph and Jennie (Beard) Johnstone. Janice's life was a testament to her resilience, love, and unwavering faith.

Janice grew up in the heart of St. Louis and attended St. Thomas Aquinas and Cleveland High school, where she not only received her education but also cultivated lifelong friendships and values that would guide her throughout her life. She married Lloyd Schoenhoff on April 8, 1956. Their union was blessed with five wonderful children: Vicky, Kathy, Lloyd Jr., Cynthia, and Leland. Although Janice and Lloyd later divorced, their shared journey left a legacy of love and family.

Janice's professional life was marked by dedication and service. She spent many years working in a jewelry manufacturing facility, where her warmth and sincerity brightened the lives of those she met. With a spirit of determination, Janice achieved her goal of becoming a licensed insurance agent, showcasing her ability to triumph over challenges. As a single mother, she balanced the responsibilities of raising her family with grace and strength.

In 1977, Janice made the heartfelt decision to move her family to Sullivan to be closer to her sister, Betty. There, she worked as a waitress at The Bobber Cafe, endearing herself to many in the community with her kindness and generosity. Janice played an integral role in raising her grandchildren, providing them with a safe haven and unconditional love. She was a pillar of strength and comfort to her family, often being the beacon of hope during times of trouble.

A devout Christian, Janice was a dedicated member of the Full Gospel Fellowship Church. Her faith was the cornerstone of her life, guiding her actions and providing solace during life's storms. She found great joy in listening to gospel music, which uplifted her spirit and reinforced her connection to her faith.

Janice's interests were a reflection of her love for life and family. She adored being a grandmother and great-grandmother, cherishing every moment spent with her beloved grandchildren. Family gatherings, especially during the holidays, were the highlights of her year. Janice's love for "good meals" was well-known, with BBQ ribs and steak & baked potatoes being among her favorite foods. In her leisure time, she enjoyed watching television shows like Hallmark Movies & Mysteries and Heartland, which brought her comfort and entertainment.

Janice is survived by her children: Vicky Gusman, Kathy Conner and husband, John L. all of St. Louis, MO, Lloyd "Billy" Schoenhoff Jr. of Farmington, MO, and Cynthia Gierer of Wilmington, NC; 14 grandchildren: Amy Holder and husband Derrick of Imperial, MO, Theresa Fromenton and husband, Joshua of Arnold, MO, Rob Gusman, Nicholas Gusman, Lonell, Shante, Candace, Janice, Miguel Conner all of St. Louis, Christa Daoud and Danny of Chicago, IL, Caleb Gierer, Timothy Schoenhoff and wife, Lori of Nixa, MO, Aaron Schoenhoff and wife, Megan of St. Clair, MO, & David Schoenhoff of Springfield, MO; numerous great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren; two sisters, Margaret Bell of St. Louis and Debbie Siddall of Lonedell, MO; a sister-in-law, Tina Schoenhoff-Dotson of Sullivan; a granddaughter-in-law, Jessica Schoenhoff of Sullivan; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
