Janice L. (Thompson) Shirley, 88, of Terre Haute and formerly of Punta Gorda, Florida, passed away on Saturday, April 20, 2024, peacefully in her home. She was born September 25, 1935, in Vigo County to Herbert Thompson and Christine (Hunt) Thompson. Janice attended Pimento High School, graduating in the class of 1953. She had various jobs over the years, but mostly was a homemaker where she was able to be at home with her children.
Janice is survived by three children, Jerrilyn Hedges and husband Stephen of Terre Haute, Tim Shirley and wife Linda of Shelburn, and Chris Shirley Ugoletti and husband John of Terre Haute; eight grandchildren, Shawn Hedges, Cassie Squillace, Jerrad Runkle, Mary Hickey, T.J. Shirley, Erik Shirley, Jasmine Scott, and Preston Scott; fourteen great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Chuck, sister Sandy, and son Craig Shirley.
Funeral services will be Friday, April 26, 2024, at DeBaun Springhill Chapel at 1:00 p.m. Pastor Rod Maris will be officiating. Burial will follow at Prairie Creek West Lawn Cemetery. Visitation will be at the funeral home prior to service from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Southern Care Hospice.
