Williams – Janice Dennard Williams, age 81, of Glen St. Mary, Florida went to her Heavenly Home on October 23, 2024, at Ed Fraser Memorial Hospital with her loving family by her side. She was born in Jacksonville, Florida on December 29, 1942, to the late James P. Dennard and Katie Barwick Dennard. Janice was raised in Jacksonville and graduated from Lee High School in 1960. Following school, she embarked on an amazing journey with her good friend, Geneva Barnes. Together they earned their Cosmetologist certification, and Janice started her career as a Hair Stylist. Janice had a servant's heart, loved to help others, and enjoyed making her clients feel beautiful. She married her best friend and forever companion, Jack L. Williams, on July 24, 1966. Janice made Baker County her forever home in 1966 and spent many years devoted to our community. She proudly owned and operated Janice's Beauty Shop for several years until her son, James LaRue Williams, started school. She was most passionate about her family. Janice loved being a wife and mother and certainly wanted the best education and influence for her son. In the late 1970's, Janice started teaching at Grace Christian Academy in Baldwin where her son attended and in 1989, she taught reading and writing at Emmanuel Christian Academy for another 15 years. After both Academy's closed, she went to Worthington Springs as an Educator with Genesis Christian Academy until her retirement in 2006. Janice loved guiding children and assisting them in gaining a better future. Her light radiated in the classroom, while at home, and in her community. She was currently attending Mt. Zion Church. Janice loved attending her churches, growing in her faith, and fellowshipping with her church family. Throughout the years, Janice was actively involved as a Sunday School Teacher, with Church Vacation Bible Schools, and assisting with the Bereavement Teams. Janice knew the importance of a hot meal and extra love after a dear family experienced a loss. She had a warm touch, words of comfort, welcoming spirit, and could always lend a listening ear. Janice also enjoyed cooking and even was a Caterer for family and friends. After retirement, she loved being a Private in Home Sitter and found much joy in creating lifetime bonds. Janice looked forward to exploring new places and traveling with her family. The trips were a great opportunity to bond with her loved ones and create cherished memories. She was always up for shopping and discovering unique shops. Janice took immense joy in being a grandmother and she treasured all the precious moments they were together. Janice's love and devotion she showed will be forever remembered and she will be greatly missed by all who knew her. She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Jamie Lou Webster and Nettie Hodges; and her nephew, Jerry Webster.
Janice is survived by her loving husband of 58 years and 3 months, Jack L. Williams of Glen St. Mary, FL; son, James LaRue (Tracy) Williams of Macclenny, FL; grandchildren, Kellen, Kadence, and Karter Williams; nephew, Donnie (Rosie) Hodges; many more nieces and nephews she loved dearly and extended family and friends.
A Celebration of Janice's Life will be held on Tuesday, October 29, 2024, at 2:00 pm at Glen Baptist Church with Pastor Shane Conner, Pastor Chas Rowland, and Pastor David Thomas officiating. Interment will follow at Cedar Creek Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Monday, October 28, 2024, from, from 5:00 – 7:00 pm at Ferreira Funeral Services Chapel.
