NEW HARTFORD - Janine D. Cimmino, 67, passed away on April 11th, 2024 with loved ones by her side after a long and courageous battle with Pancreatic Cancer. She was born on August 13,1956 to Roger and Loretta Fournier of Barkhamsted. She is survived by her mother, her husband of 5 years Edward Grinvalsky, her daughters Amy and Katie, her brother David Fournier and wife Carolyn of California, and her brother James Fournier and wife Andrea of Barkhamsted. Janine also leaves behind her dog, Neeka, and cat, Bella, whom she adored. She was predeceased by her father, and her first husband of 29 years Tony Cimmino.
Janine graduated from NWR7 High School in 1974 and after some time in the banking field, she began working for the New Hartford Board of Education, first as a school secretary and then as an administrative assistant for the Special Education Department. Janine's pride and joy was raising her family, and her love for her girls was evident in everything she did. Her soul was strongly rooted at West Hill Lake, and she loved being outside and on the water. She served on the board of directors for the Laurel Acres Property Owners Association for many years and loved her "little slice of heaven" at the beach.
Janine was known for her thoughtfulness and compassion towards others, and her contagious smile. She will be missed by her immediate and extended family, her lifelong friends from the lake community, and the core groups of relationships she deeply treasured. Janine's memory will live on in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know her.
A service will be held at Our Lady of Hope Parish, formerly Immaculate Conception Church, in New Hartford on Friday, June 14th at 11am, followed by a Celebration of Life at Camp Workcoeman at 12:30pm. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Janine's memory to Camp Workcoeman (169 Camp Workcoeman Rd., New Hartford, CT 06057) or Project Purple https://donate.projectpurple.org/janine-cimmino

Dear Amy, Katie, and Edward,
I just want to say how extremely sadden I am over your loss. Janine was like a breath of fresh air! She always asked about how others were doing! She loved you girls with all her heart! You both were her pride and joy in life. And I also know she was so happy to have found love again with you Ed. I know this is a tough time and no words can console you all. But I hope knowing that she is always a part of you and will forever be in your hearts, mind and soul will give you the peace and reassurance of what truly loving someone means.
