Indianapolis - Jason Boyd "JD" Davis, 50, departed this life Thursday, October 21, 2021. He was born May 20, 1971 in Indianapolis, IN to James and Sylvia Adams Davis. He attended Indianapolis Public School #69 and graduated from Broad Ripple High School in 1989. He played baseball and ran track. He attended Grambling State University where he studied education and played intramural basketball. He was employed by Performance Contracting, Inc., where he served as a journeyman carpenter. He was a member of the Indiana/Kentucky/Ohio Regional Council of Carpenters, Local 301.
Jason professed a hope in Christ at an early age. He was baptized at Olivet Missionary Baptist Church where he was an active member. He later moved his membership to Emmanuel Missionary Baptist Church. At the time of his death, he was a member of New Beginnings Fellowship Church.
Jason was married to Robin Killebrew. He was the father of Tawny J'Marie Thomas-Davis. Jason enjoyed joking around with his family and friends. Whether he was a spectator or a participant, Jason loved basketball. He also loved watching South Park, anything on ESPN and The Chi. His favorite movies were A Christmas Story and Brother Where Art Thou. Jason loved babies and had a very special bond with his nieces and nephews, particularly his niece, Joi.
Jason was a passionate basketball coach beginning with his days at TAB all the way through high school. For a time, he coached his daughter's basketball team. He once coached from the hallway after being kicked out of a game.
Jason was an extremely active member of the Masonic Order. He began his journey at the age of 12 as a Pythagorean. At the age of 18, he moved to the Southern Cross Lodge #39 where he was part of the 357 social group. He attained the office of Past Worshipful Master for 2008-2009. He was also an active member of the Scottish and York Rites, Persian Temple #46 and Past Patron of Leah Chapter #2 OES. Jason was particularly fond of his masonic family. He absolutely loved the comradery between his masonic brothers and sisters.
Jason was known as "Slinky" or "JD" by all who knew him. He had a special bond with his childhood friends: Richard Hart, Michael Montgomery and David Saunders. He also had strong ties to his BRFL class of 89 classmates. He was a bright light in all of the lives he touched. He loved to make people laugh. He could work a crowd, especially at the 357 fish fries and parties. Jason never met a stranger. He always made people feel welcomed, even if he made jokes about them first. Jason's favorite color was royal purple.
Jason was preceded in death by his brother, James B. Davis, Jr. and his grandparents, William and Sarah Davis and Ernest and Anna Adams. He leaves to mourn and cherish his memory his beloved daughter, Tawny J'Marie Thomas-Davis; loving girlfriend, Latasha Brown; parents, James and Sylvia Davis; sister, Stacye Norman; and sister-in-law, Lillian Davis.
