Jason Thomas McMicken, 39, passed away in the early hours of September 6, 2024, following a brief illness. He left this world as he lived in it; surrounded by people who loved him. A retired Air Force Technical Sergeant with 18 years of service, his life took him around the globe and into the hearts of all who met him. He is remembered as a close friend, a strong personality, a curious mind, and a family man who faced each day determined to give his best. He leaves behind a world of those who loved him, including his fiancée, Jackie Watson; his parents, Cathy and Dick Okenica; his grandfather, Andy Gresko; grandmother, Joyce McMicken; his brothers, Cameron (Angela) and Devin (Maggie) McMicken; his beloved nieces and nephew Sara and Ryan (Cameron and Angela) and Murphy (Devin and Maggie); his dog Ruger; and cats, Figgie and Salem. He also leaves an extended family of aunts, uncles, cousins, and all who met him, whom he welcomed into his home and life. Each of them carries his laugh, humor, and strong hugs with them. He joins his grandfather, Earl "Mick" McMicken; grandmother, Mary Ann Gresko; and his father, Bob McMicken in the hereafter. The family will receive visitors at the Bednarsky Funeral Home, 96 Glenwood Ave., Binghamton, on Friday, November 15 from 4:00-6:00 pm. A Funeral Mass will be offered at 10:00 am on Saturday, November 16 at St Patrick's Church, 9 Leroy St., Binghamton. A private family burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery. The family would like to thank the staff at Antelope Valley Medical Center, UCLA Medical Center, and the West LA VA Medical Center for their care, as well as the Greater LA Fisher House for their hospitality in a difficult time. The family encourages you to enroll as an organ donor if you can. If desired, donations may be made to the LA Fisher House or the Broome County Humane Society.
