Our precious Jason, also known as Jay, was born on a magical Christmas Eve night. Little did we know that his world would be enveloped in silence and he would be unable to speak clearly. He and our family would be learning sign language. An amazing new world of wonder.
Jason loved to communicate with his family and deaf friends, and we never wanted him to feel left out or treated differently. He was never insecure about his disability.
Jason was a headstrong man, but also very sweet and lovable. He was known for his kind heart and polite manners. Jason was also very independent and so talented, from building furniture, porches, to frying the best shrimp ever!
He was proud of his business as owner of ASL Lawn care Service, LLC.
When he met Melissa, he knew he had met the love of his life. They married 12/25/2019. They shared many fun times and made memories that she will continue to treasure in her heart. Jason loved his children and his beautiful granddaughter Naomi. Naomi brought him so much joy and she truly was the light of his life. We will keep his memory alive, so Naomi won't ever forget him.
Jason is survived by his Wife of 5 years, Melissa Standifer, his parents, Johnny and Kitty (Elain) Standifer, children, Madison Standifer, Cole Standifer, Step children, Kaylynn Bairefoot, Jonathan Shiver, granddaughter, Naomi Claire and grandfather, Reverend Bill Heiden.
Jason left us on Easter Sunday. The grief is unbearable, but we know our Redeemer lives.
Jason is preceded in death by grandparents; Ben and Kathleen Standifer, grandmother, Doris Heiden.
Jason's uncle John Crawford, and Johnny's brother-in-law, wrote this for Johnny;
"I truly believe Jay is so much happier right now, never before has he heard music, a voice, a bird chirp, a cricket sing in the night. He gets to fellowship with your dad in a way we won't know until we get there!"
We thank the Lord for allowing us to be Jason's parents. We had so many unique experiences because of his deafness and he taught us so much.
What a glad reunion day when we see each other again.
Jason, we all love you very much!
See you later, our precious son.
A special thanks to all the family and friends who loved and prayed for Jason daily.
A visitation will be held on Monday, April 8, 2024 at Pensacola Memorial Gardens and Funeral Home beginning at 10:30am with services immediately to follow at 11:30am.
