Javene Smith

Friday, April 24, 1936 – Wednesday, September 17, 2025

Javene Smith entered into her heavenly home on Wednesday, September 17, 2025. Mrs. Smith was born on April 24, 1936, to Grover and Mattie Lou Jackson. She grew up in Dodge County with two sisters and one brother, Toby Gurien, Shelby Atkinson, and Guy Jackson, who all preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Creighton Smith, and her son-in-law, Don Garrett.

Mrs. Smith loved being around people and worked many years at Piggly Wiggly in McRae. After retirement, she spent as much time as possible with her children, grandchildren, and eventually great-grandchildren. Mrs. Smith was a member of Helena Baptist Church for her entire adult life.

She is survived by her two daughters and a son-in-law, Kim Garrett of Dublin, Celese and Billy McKinnon of McRae Helena; her grandchildren, Nicole and Justin Webb, Justin and Kristi Garrett of Dublin, Brittany and Matt Wood of Decatur, and Brooke and Caleb Smith of McRae Helena. She is survived by and had a special place in her heart for her nine great grandchildren, Anna Kate and Jasper Webb; Jameson and Jackson Wood; Walker, Loraleigh and Natalie Garrett; Billie Kate and Britt Smith, and a special family member, Miracle. She is also survived by several nieces and a nephew who lovingly referred to her as Aunt Ene.

Services for Mrs. Smith will be held on Friday, September 19, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. at the Chapel of Lowes Funeral Home. Burial will follow at McRae Memorial Garden.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in memory of Mrs. Smith to McRae Methodist Church Children's Ministry in McRae-Helena or Liberty Church Legacy Fund in Dublin, Georgia. The family can be reached at the home of Celese and Billy Mckinnon, 39 Muscadine Drive, McRae-Helena.
