Published by Legacy on Feb. 9, 2022.
Javier ( Jay ) Aguilar was born Nov. 8, 1951 in Laredo, TX and passed away on Tuesday, February 8, 2022. Jay and Catherine married on May 13, 1978. Jay enjoyed his work as an attorney. Jay had a business degree from UT of Austin and a Master's degree in accounting from UT of Austin. He later obtained a law degree from Harvard Law and went on to work as a federal prosecutor in Houston and as an assistant attorney general in Austin. He argued two cases before the United States Supreme Court. Javier's son Daniel was 10 years old at the time of the second case. The Court narrowly found against Jay's argument. Daniel gave Jay this Career advice: "Dad, don't tell anyone you lost one." Jay later retired from AT&T in 2016. He enjoyed mentoring younger lawyers. Jay loved history and believed the United States Constitution offers freedoms many people around the world can enjoy.
Jay received his faith in God from his family. He attended Sacred Heart Elementary school and St. Joseph's Academy for high school. He liked to joke that his teachers were the Sisters of Perpetual Motion and the Fathers of Complicated Mathematics. Jay recalls many happy times of his education. Jay has said he hopes to be remembered as a good lawyer, a good husband and a good father.
