Jay L. Eudy passed away on Friday, May 5, 2023. A Graveside Service will take place at 1:00 p.m., Monday, May 8, 2023 at Dreamland Cemetery in Turkey. A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, May 9, 2023 at First United Methodist Church in Levelland with Ruby Moultrie officiating. Arrangements are under the personal care of Moore-Rose Funeral Homes.
Jay Eudy was born September 3, 1932 on the Eudy family farm in Turkey, TX. He was the eleventh child of Jim and Ethel Eudy. Jay was married to his college sweetheart, Barbara for sixty-eight years. Together they have two sons, Steve Eudy of Anderson, SC, Scott (Lavonna) Eudy of Tampa, FL; two daughters, Jill (Stan) Roberts of Levelland, TX, and Jayne Blume of Lubbock, TX; from that they were blessed with 10 grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.
Jay was a man of many admirable accomplishments, distinguished awards and high praises. He loved our country and served it well. He commanded a company in the 101st Airborne Division and served as Advisor to the Royal Arabian Infantry School in Saudi Arabia. Jay was a strong proponent for Agriculture Education and became the State Director of Agriculture Education in 1983. Jay was passionate about the Texas FFA and devoted everything he could to saving and promoting the program for the state of Texas. Whatever he sought to master, he succeeded.
Some of his leaderships included the Dean's Advisory Board, College of Ag Science, Texas Tech, 1983-1991; Chair, National Task Force on Aquaculture, 1989-1993; President, the National Association of Supervisors of Ag Education, 1989-1990; Chair, Southern Ag Education Conference, 1990; Board of Directors, National Council Ag Education, 1990-1993; numerous Methodist Church boards and taught Sunday School for over 35 years; and he represented Texas in teacher conferences in Oklahoma, Oregon, California, Nebraska, Wisconsin and Arkansas.
Some of Jay's awards included Distinguished Service awards from the Professional Ag Workers of Texas (1986), Southern Ag Education Conference (1989), and the National Vocational Ag Teachers Association (1989). In addition, Jay received Distinguished Alumnus from Texas Tech in 1989; Special Service award, American Association of Ag Educators in 1990; Outstanding Member, National Association Supervisors of Ag Education in 1993; Graduate of Distinction, Texas Tech University in 1993; Man of the Year, Progressive Farmer Magazine in 1995; and Trailblazer for Ag Education in 2016.
Jay had a set of values in his life that dictated everything he did. His relationship with the Lord came first and he made sure he led a life that would give credit to his Lord and Savior. His wife, Barbara, was everything to him. She was the most important and admired person in his life. He adored her and honored her with everything he did. Jay put his family first. He made sure to "stop and smell the roses" with his family and grandchildren. Jay was a very passionate man. He was many different things to many different people. Those who knew him best saw his love for Jesus, Barbara, his family, agriculture, tractors, and professionalism. Jay led a legacy that will live on forever.

Jay Eudy was such a special Friend and Christian. He and Barbara was a special friend to my father and mother! He and my father enjoyed doing things for the Christian School in Levelland. They were both big kids at heart! I know that Jay will be greatly missed by his family and friends! Our thoughts and prayers go out to the family and friends! Bless You All!
