Jay Alan Koons, 72, Indianapolis resident passed away on Saturday, Feb 5 at Community North Hospital in Indianapolis, Indiana. Jay was born in Connersville, Indiana on October 12, 1949, a son of the late George H Koons, Jr. and Mildred C Koons. He graduated from Marion High School and attended Ball State University. Before retirement, he had worked as Regional Sales Manager for Planes United Van Lines. Jay was arguably the number one fan of The Beatles and managed to score excellent tickets to see Paul McCartney several times during his life. He also traveled to England to walk on Abbey Road and learn more about his beloved band. He was an avid sports fan and loved the Cincinnati Reds, Indiana Pacers, Indianapolis Colts, and the Indiana Hoosiers. Jay enjoyed playing golf, listening to and creating music with his guitar and keyboard. Above all, Jay's greatest joy was being a father to his beloved daughter, Samantha.
He is survived by daughter Samantha Koons (Indianapolis, IN), brother Larry Koons (Petoskey, MI), sister Pat Marcuccilli (husband Jim Marcuccilli) Fort Wayne, IN, brother Kelly Koons (wife Jody Koons) Springdale, AR, sister Shannon Persinger (husband Eric Persinger) Fort Wayne, IN, nieces, nephews, and cousins and friends.
Visitation will be at 3:00 PM on Wednesday, February 16 at Indiana Funeral Care (Harry W. Moore Chapel) with memorial service immediately following at 4:00 PM at the same location. Indiana Funeral Care (Harry W. Moore Chapel) is located at 8151 Allisonville Road, Indianapolis, IN 46250.
