On Sunday, September 21, 2025, at 1:00p.m. we are celebrating the life of Jay with family and friends remembering the good times with laughter and tears.
Born May 31, 2025, Jay was the son of Muriel (Burke) and Max McCubbin. Jay grew up on a farm outside the Conrad area in Iowa. In 1965 he graduated from BCL at the Conrad High School. After graduation he went to work at Fisher Controls in Marshalltown for 25+ years. He retired and moved to the Lake of the Ozarks where he became the owner of a gas dock at Pirate's Point (which was a floating convenience store and had gas pumps.) This is where he met Sharon, the love of his life and married her. They were married for 20 years until she passed away at home. At this point he moved back to Iowa to be close to his family but on August 11, 2025, he passed away peacefully at his home in Liscomb, Iowa.
Jay had several hobbies during his life, including race car driver, golf, singing, licensed auctioneer, played the banjo (Blue Grass music), wood carving, and the love of his dogs throughout the years. His greatest passion was for golf and riding the golf cart in Liscomb with his beloved side-kick Tilly (Jay's fur baby).
Survivors include his first wife Linda (Rainsbarger) Burke, the mother of his three children; his children Tammy (Mike) Fisher of Marshalltown, IA, Micky McCubbin of Eldora, IA, and Cam (Deb) McCubbin of Liscomb, IA; 6 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; 3 sisters, Jean Cain of Missouri, Jane (Darwin) Mast of State Center, IA, and Heidi (David) Swangel of Florida; 3 stepsons, Todd (Diane) Carpenter of Kansas, Tim (Lenora) Carpenter of Kansas, and Stacey (Jennie) Carpenter of Texas; other relatives; several friends and his sister-in-law Lee McCubbin wife to his late brother Jeff.
