Jean A. Bogan

Jean Ann Bogan, age 80, a resident of StoryPoint in Naperville, IL, and formerly longtime of Plainfield, IL, Farmington Hills, MI, and Dearborn, MI, passed away peacefully on February 4, 2023. She was born in 1942 in Detroit, MI.
Jean is survived by her beloved children, Michael (Tim Schulte) Bogan, Anne Bogan and Elizabeth (Bart) Thurber; her cherished grandson, Will Thurber; her dear brother Richard (Ann Bass) Berutti; her treasured brothers and sisters in law, Judy (Nabil Riad) Bogan, Timothy Bogan and Nancy Bogan; as well as her dear nephew, Steve (Tina) Riad and niece, Christen (Bob) Black and great-niece and nephew, Kaitlin and Dylan Black. She was preceded in death by her dearly beloved husband Tom; her much loved parents, Julius and Mary Berutti; and her life-long friends, Pat Edoff, and Jeanette and Roger Wines.
Jean graduated with a bachelor's degree from the University of Michigan. After a year of teaching, she turned to raising three children. She later taught Montessori preschool, and thereafter continued to volunteer in education throughout her life, tutoring children with special needs, teaching religious education to young teenagers, and tutoring English to adults who she came to hold as dear friends. She and her husband were always active in their community and volunteered in a multitude of capacities, including being election judges for many years. Jean enjoyed participating in her church, St. Margaret Mary, and cherished the friendships she made there.
She was one to notice and appreciate beauty - in the world around her, in an author's moving words, or in a stranger's act of kindness. She made friendships that lasted a lifetime, and warmly welcomed family and friends into her home. She was much loved, and will be missed.
A Memorial Visitation will be held on Monday, February 13, 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM at St. Margaret Mary Church, 1450 Green Trails Dr., Naperville. The Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11:00 AM with Rev. Patrick Murphy officiating.
