Jean A. Healer

Jean A. Healer, age 63, of Elgin, IL, passed away on February 20, 2025. She was born March 13, 1961 in Lafayette, IN to her loving parents, Orville and Theresa (née Hatke) Obery.
Jean graduated from Central Catholic High School, and attended Ivy Tech to learn how to be a dental assistant. She worked at Macy's for over 35 years.
Jean met her husband, Ronald, at a Montgomery Ward in Lafayette, IN. They were happily married 37 years before his passing in 2019.
One interesting story about Jean is how she had surgery and radiation to remove a tumor on her kidney when she was just six months old. She grew up to be a very kind and loving woman, and was a good friend. She had an infectious laugh and was always smiling. She loved to talk and could converse for hours. She always put family and friends first.
Jean enjoyed singing, getting together with family and friends, and going on adventures with her grandsons. She baked the best chocolate chip cookies.
Jean was preceded in death by her father, Orville Obery; stepfather, John E. Haan; husband, Ronald Healer; and sister, Alice Pierce. She is survived by her daughter, Kristen Tait; mother, Theresa Haan; siblings, Madonna Thelen, Gary Obery, and Angie McGarvey; grandsons, Ethan and Liam Tait; and many cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Visitation will be 10:30am to 12:30pm, Saturday, March 8, 2025, at Symonds-Madison Funeral Home, 305 Park Street, Elgin, IL 60120.
Mass will be at 1:00pm at St. Mary Church of Elgin, 400 Fulton Street, Elgin, IL 60120. Fr. Bruce Ludeke will be officiating.
Interment will be at Maryhill Catholic Cemetery, 8600 N. Milwaukee Avenue, Niles, IL 60714.
