Jean M. LaPine, 72, of Fond du Lac, died Sunday, December 29, 2024, at her home. She was born in Fond du Lac on May 18, 1952, to Herman and Alice (Sperbeck) Steinbarth. Jean earned an associate’s degree in child care and development from Fox Valley Techincal College. On August 5, 1978, Jean married James LaPine, Jr. at Church of Peace in Fond du Lac. He preceded her in death on June 4, 2022.
Jean cherished the outdoors and loved sharing countless adventures with her husband and children, creating memories through various activities. Her passion for nurturing extended beyond her family, as she dedicated many years to caring for children, from teaching at Kindercare to providing in-home childcare. A devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, she embodied warmth and compassion.
She and her husband, Jim, were inseparable, finding joy in every moment they shared. Whether on their daily scenic car rides, traveling to fishing tournaments, or spending time at the “hunting land” surrounded by nature and God’s beauty, she was always by Jim’s side, treasuring their time together. She also deeply treasured her trips with her sister, Mary, creating countless memories during their many adventures.
Survivors include her children, Adam LaPine, Jacob LaPine, and Nichole (Pete) Schnettler; grandchildren, Makenzie (Chase) Katzenmeyer, Sawyer Schnettler, and Annyka Schnettler; brothers, Bob (Sue) Steinbarth, Ed (Pat) Steinbarth, Gary Steinbarth, and Jack (Pat) Steinbarth; and her sister, Mary Jo Gahan. In addition to her parents and husband, Jean was preceded in death by a brother, David Steinbarth.
In accordance with Jean and Jim’s wishes, a joint celebration of life will be held at their cherished property along the Fox River. Details of this special gathering will be shared with family and friends at a later date.
The family extends heartfelt gratitude to her caregiver, Terra, and the compassionate SSM Health at Home Hospice staff who provided her with exceptional care.
