Jean was born August 9, 1941 in Mitchell to Laura (Loomer) and Charles Volz and graduated from Notre Dame, Mitchell in 1959. After losing her parents at a young age she took on the role of caregiver for her siblings, providing love, guidance, and strength during difficult times. She married Jerry Mohr on November 26, 1966 at Holy Family Catholic Church; to this union three sons were born. She began a career as a lab technologist, working at the Methodist Hospital and LCM. Jean and Jerry owned and managed Dakota Sunset for thirty- one years. In their later years they spent many hours attending numerous sporting events and activities for their grandchildren. A highlight that included attending five state football championships of their grandsons.
Jean's compassion and dedication to family continued throughout her life. She lovingly cared for their son, Steve, who had cerebral palsy, ensuring he lived a life filled with joy and support. She also became a devoted caregiver for her husband during his battle with cancer. Jean was known for her unwavering love, resilience, and selflessness. Despite life's challenges she met each day with kindness and determination; always putting her family's needs before her own. Jean and Jerry enjoyed family trips when the boys were younger. Jean enjoyed the friendships made through church, kid's activities, and Dakota Sunset. Her hobbies included ceramics and in later years bingo, solitaire, and puzzles. Jean had a quick wit and outgoing personality.
