Jean Ann Piper, of Clive, Iowa, was born December 1, 1951, in Des Moines, and passed away on August 16, 2025, surrounded by her loved ones after a courageous battle with cancer.
Jean dedicated more than 15 years of her career to the Iowa Foundation for Medical Care before retiring in 2018.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Lorritta (Balduchi) Piper; father, Judson Piper; sister, Dianna (Piper) Pahlka; and brother, Keven Piper. She is survived by her daughter, Cathy (Eric) Bumann; granddaughters, Jessica (Miranda) Bales and Samantha Bales; her sisters, Shelly Placido, Linda Richards, and Leanna (Jim) Byers; her brother, Judson (Liz) Piper; and many other loving family members and friends.
Jean was known and loved by everyone who met her. She was feisty yet deeply compassionate, empathetic, and full of life. There was no task or adventure she wouldn't take on for the people she loved. She will be remembered for her love of a good cup of coffee, Biscoff cookies, and the comfort of sweatpants paired with a warm sweatshirt.
Services for Jean will be held on Friday, August 22, 2025, at 1:30 p.m., with visitation beginning at 12:30 p.m., at 3211 Hubble Avenue, Des Moines, Iowa, 50317. Burial will follow at Laurel Hill Cemetery, 3601 E Court Avenue, Des Moines, Iowa, 50317.
Jean will be dearly missed. To know her was truly to love her.
