Jean Marguerite (Stone) Elkins went to be with Jesus her Lord and Savior on Monday, March 30, 2026.
Viewing for Jean will be 1:00 – 8:00 PM, on Tuesday and from 8:00 AM – 8:00 PM, on Wednesday, at the funeral home. A private burial will be held by the family. Burial and arrangements are under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors and Crematory.
Jean was born in her paternal grandparents’ home in Newkirk, Oklahoma on April 5, 1926. She was the first born of J.T. Stone and Ethleen (Ford) Stone. She attended school in Kansas, Oklahoma, Illinois, and Texas. She graduated from Pampa High School in 1944.
Jean met O.B “Ben” Elkins in August of 1944. They were married just a few months later on November 18, 1944, in Sayre, Oklahoma. Four years later in 1948 they welcomed their first child, a daughter Suzan Gail, in 1951, son Monty, and in 1956, another son Marcus.
Jean was a member of The First Assembly of God Church since 1952 where she was a Sunday school teacher for the senior girls. She was also the secretary of her woman’s Sunday school class. She was also head of the church’s Quilting Group for many years.
Jean was a wonderful wife, mother, and grandmother. She sought to never miss an opportunity to witness for the Lord.
Jean was preceded in death by her husband of 73 years, O.B. “Ben” Elkins, parents, J.T. and Ethleen Stone, brothers, Joe Stone, Jack Stone, and Jerald Stone, a sister, Jeweldean Bryant, son-in-law, Richard Anderson, and great-grandson, Lucas Hutchinson.
Jean is survived by one daughter, Suzan Gail Anderson; two sons, Monty Elkins and wife Pat, and Marcus Elkins, all of Pampa; Three granddaughters, Melissa Walters and husband Zane, Monica Hutchinson and husband Ethan, and ReDonn Woods and husband Keith; two great-grandsons, three great-granddaughters, and three great great-grandchildren.
The family would like to thank Interim Hospice for the love and care they showed Jean. Special thanks to Interim attendant Kimberly Fausett and caregivers Jamie Carpenter, Christeen Griffin, Karen Hapeman, and Joyce Bender.
