Jean E. (Wolfe) Himsel, 86, of Danville went to be with the Lord on Friday, June 6, 2025. She was born in Pittsboro, Indiana on November 17, 1938; a daughter of the late Ledner and Edna Mae (Rutledge) Wolfe.
Jean graduated from Pittsboro High School with the class of 1956. She worked for American States Insurance for a short time before getting married, moving to Danville and starting her family. She worked for over 30 years in the Danville Community School Corporation as an Administrative Secretary, first at the Danville Jr. High for over 20 years, then moving into the district administration office.
Jean was an active member of the Danville Christian Church for over 50 years where she served in various roles. She was also a member of the Danville Tri Kappa. However, her favorite roles were being mother and grandmother to her 3 children and 8 grandchildren. She was a woman of unwavering principles, valuing punctuality as a reflection of character and facing every challenge without complaint. Her strength and determination shaped a legacy. She will be dearly missed and fondly remembered.
She is survived by her children, Chris (Deb) Himsel of Ft. Wayne, Rich (Dawn) Himsel of Avon, Angela (Robert) Kim of New York City, NY; grandchildren, Andrew, Ella, Matthew, Ethan and William Himsel, Emily and T.J. Himsel, and Hugo Kim; siblings, Mary (Wally) Leonard of Martinsville, Kay McClain of Avon, Donna Wolfe of Jamestown, and Allen (Jenny) Wolfe of San Diego. Also missing her are many nieces, nephews and extended family members.
Funeral service will be on Friday, June 13, 2025 at 10:00 a.m. at the Danville Christian Church, 180 West Main Street, Danville, IN. Visitation will take place on Thursday, June 12, 2025 from 2:00 – 7:00 p.m. and also one hour prior to the funeral service at the Danville Christian Church. Burial will follow in the Lizton K of P Cemetery, Lizton, IN.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in Jean’s name to either the Danville Christian Church, 180 W. Main St., Danville, IN 46122 or the Danville Community Education Foundation, 200 Warrior Way, Danville, IN 46122.
