Jeaneine Wagner Hartley

Jeaneine Wagner Hartley, of Chattanooga, passed away Wednesday, January 8, 2024. She was born March 28, 1933 in Jones Station in Chattanooga. Jeaneine attended Rossville High School and graduated from Bob Jones University with a Bachelor's Degree in elementary education. Jeaneine began her teaching career at South Rossville Elementary then moved to Red Bank Elementary where she retired after 25 years of teaching. She was a devoted choir member at Red Bank Baptist Church for many years before becoming a member at Falling Water Presbyterian Church. After retirement, she and her husband, Jim, traveled extensively in their motor home, volunteered at Regeneration Reservation in Arizona and faithfully tended their rose and vegetable gardens. However, her true joy in life was spending time with her grandchildren and her great-grandchildren
She was preceded in death by her husband, James "Jim" W. Hartley; parents, John B. Wagner and Mary Edna Davis Wagner; step-mother, Ona Condra Wagner; daughter, Karen Hartley Skipper; and grandson, Jeremiah Wagner Hartley.
Survivors include her daughter, Leesa (David) Rompre; son, Jim (Johanna) Hartley; grandchildren: Brianne (Paul) Larkins, Taylor (Harrison) Bostwick, Erin Marie (Brett) Deneckere and Elijah (Velaye) Skipper; great-grandchildren: Bryson A. Hager, Jamison W. Hartley, Wiley J. Bostwick, Louisa Skipper, Henry Skipper and Jethro Skipper; sister, Reba W. Burk; and several nieces and nephews.
The family would like to express their gratitude to Hearth Hospice and the exemplary caregivers and personnel from Right at Home.
Visitation is 4:00-7:00 pm Thursday, January 16, 2025 at Lane Funeral Home, Ashland Terrace. A cryptside service will be 2:00 pm Friday, January 17, 2025, in the Chapel of Devotion in Hamilton Memorial Gardens.
