Jerald Ryan Obituary

Visit the Lane Funeral Home - Chattanooga website to view the full obituary.
Jerald "Jerry" Anderson Ryan, 86, of Chattanooga, went to be with the Lord on Monday,

August 18, 2025 in his home surrounded in love by his family.

Jerry was born in Collinsville, Alabama, the son of Ruben and Enna (Payton) Ryan. He was

a proud veteran of the United States Air Force. He was a devoted husband to the love of his

life of almost 63 years, Patricia Crane Ryan, who passed just months ago, as well as a

loving father to son Todd Ryan and wife, Lorri, and daughter Amy Moore and husband,

Michael. He was a beloved grandpa to his eight adoring grandchildren Payton Ryan, Katie

Beth Crye and soon to be husband Zach Wishart, Hannah Ryan and soon to be husband JT

Browning, Eric, Meredith, and Madeline Tucker, and Bo and Emily Moore. He was dearly

loved by his sisters-in-law Kathy Crane Buffington, and Julie Crane Barlow and husband

Bryan. He was an adored Uncle to nephews Richard Buffinton and wife Blythe, Chris

Wozny and wife Lisa, and nieces Sarah Bailey and husband Austin, and Jennifer "Jan"

Wozny, as well as a Great Uncle to great nephews and nieces Kendal and Carson

Buffington, and Brooks and Stella Bailey. He will be so missed by his very special cousin,

Joan Payton Bruce, who he loved like a sister. There is no end to the number of extended

family, friends, and neighbors he loved and who loved him in return, as well as Mally and all

the amazing Caris staff, who helped care for him as if he were family.

He was strong in his faith and love of the Lord, kind and selfless, generous, and always

willing to lend a hand wherever needed. Whether it was serving as a Deacon at White Oak

Baptist Church, helping a neighbor, or even helping a stranger, there was never a time he

did not give what was asked of him. He was adored by everyone who knew him, and there

are no words to describe how much he will be missed.

He was proceeded in death by his parents Ruben Erskine and Enna Payton Ryan, his father

and mother-in-law Richard Floyd Crane and Helen Hatch Crane, his brother William

Michael Ryan, brother-in-law Doug Buffington, and the love of his life Patricia Crane Ryan.

The family will be receiving friends from 12:00pm-1:00pm on Friday, September 5, 2025 at

White Oak Baptist Church. A Celebration of Life service by Dr. Tony Wilson will take place

immediately after, followed by a processional to Chattanooga National Veteran's Cemetery

for the 2:30 pm interment of both Jerry and Patricia.

The family requests memorials be made to White Oak Baptist Church.
