Jeanette Edna Sherrick

Jeanette Shoemaker Sherrick, born on August 12, 1942, in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, passed away on February 6, 2025, at the age of 82. She was the beloved daughter of the late John Shoemaker and Edna Aberts Shoemaker.
Jeanette graduated from Montgomery Blair High School in 1960 and pursued her passion for cosmetology by attending Silver Spring Maryland Cosmetology School. A highly skilled and licensed hairdresser, she earned a stellar reputation throughout her long and successful career.
Her life was a testament to love and dedication, particularly to her family. Jeanette cherished her role as a mother and was especially devoted to her youngest son. Her creativity knew no bounds; she found immense joy in crafting with her family and actively participated in the Senior Center in Camden, North Carolina. In her earlier years, she enjoyed the thrill of boating and waterskiing.
A woman of deep faith, Jeanette was a member of Harmony Baptist Church at her passing. Throughout her life, she was actively involved in various churches across Maryland, Florida, and North Carolina, contributing to many capacities and sharing her passion for teaching Sunday School.
Jeanette was preceded in death by her beloved husband of over fifty years, Joseph John Sherrick, Sr., her two sisters, and one brother. She is survived by her loving sons, Joseph John Sherrick, Jr. (Kimberly Beachley) of New Market, MD; Daniel Trevor Sherrick (Diane) of Grandy, NC; and Richard Wayne Sherrick of Edenton, NC. She also leaves behind her cherished grandchildren, Hannah Sherrick (Robert Milner), Noah Sherrick (Madison), and Elijah Sherrick, along with their mother, Susan Quinn Sherrick.
Jeanette's legacy is one of love, creativity, and faith. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her, but her spirit will live on in the hearts of her family and friends.
A memorial service will take place on Saturday, March 1, 2025, from 3:00 – 6:00 p.m. at Harmony Baptist Church, 100 Plank Bridge Road, Camden, NC 27921.
