Jeanne R. James, affectionately known as Jeani, was born on April 15, 1959, in Chula Vista, California, where her journey through life commenced. She brought joy into this world and continued to spread her warmth and laughter until her passing on October 8, 2025, in El Cajon, California, following a courageous two-year battle with melanoma.
Jeani’s spirit was as vibrant as her sense of humor. She possessed an infectious laugh and a smile that could light up any room. Jeani was a graduate of Chula Vista High School, and from there, she built an admirable 34+ year career as a public servant within the City of Chula Vista Police Department and Public Works.
Jeani was all about the simple joys of life. She cherished time at the beach and Disneyland and found peace in crafting jewelry and solving People magazine crossword puzzles. Each of these pursuits reflected her creative and playful spirit, bringing forth an outlet for her to share her joy with family and friends.
Jeani's greatest accomplishments were anchored in the love she had for her family. She was a devoted wife, a proud mother, and an adoring grandmother to her cherished grandson, who was truly her happy place. Her unwavering love for her family defined her life, and she continuously expressed how blessed she felt to have them by her side.
Jeani is survived by her loving husband, Rusty James; children, Tim James and Haley (Brandon) Heinz; her grandson, Samuel Heinz; and her brothers, Phil (Linda) La Vallie, Paul La Vallie, and Dave (Kim) La Vallie. She joins her deceased family members, including her parents, Hector and Joyce La Vallie, along with her brothers Grant (Becky) La Vallie and Randy La Vallie.
As we reflect on the delightful memories woven into the fabric of Jeani’s life, we are reminded of her enduring spirit, her playful nature, and the joy she brought to all who knew her. Her laughter will echo in our hearts, and her love will continue to shine brightly through the lives she touched. A beautiful soul has departed, but the love and legacy of Jeanne R. James will forever remain with us.
